Tips on applying laptop stickers perfectly

Do you love laptop stickers, but are not sure how to apply them? Are you worried that you might damage your laptop in the process and just want to make sure you know exactly what you are doing?

We have a step-by-step guide on how to apply laptop stickers for you. This includes the materials you should reach for to get the best possible outcome and the perfect way to apply them. So, let’s jump straight in.

1. Find the perfect material

The stickers you will stick to your laptop will experience heat, bumps and maybe even the occasional water or coffee spill. You want to choose a material that withstands these stresses. While your stickers need to be sticky, they also have to be easy to remove so as to not leave adhesive residue or even destroy your laptop.

Vinyl-based stickers are your best option here. Your custom vinyl stickers will come with a medium-strength adhesive that can resist temperatures of up to 176°F. On top of that, these stickers withstand scratches and are waterproof, making them the perfect choice for decorating your laptop.

There are also great paper-based options available. These are super environmentally friendly and will decompose within 12 weeks. Paper stickers are only splash waterproof but if you keep your laptop in a case at all times, these can work just as well for you.

2. Clean your surface

After you have received your stickers of choice, you need to ensure you are working with a clean surface. Things we use daily like laptops can collect dust and grease. This can impact the adhesion of your stickers negatively and create little bumps in between your surfaces and the adhesive.

To remove this, you can use a simple alcohol-based cleaner. Make sure you unplug your laptop before you do this and ensure not to get any liquid onto your keyboard. All you need then is a cotton bud or cloth. Rub the cleanser over your laptop and let it fully dry before you move on to the next step.

3. Be patient

The secret to applying your stickers, no matter if they are vinyl- or paper-based, the right way is time. Do not rush the process and stay patient. This will save you a lot of frustration in the long run and leave you with the best possible result.

The adhesive on the back of your stickers is pressure sensitive. This means that it is activated once you press them down. Avoid applying pressure until you are 100% with the position of your stickers.

Once you have found the right post, start from the centre and work your way outwards. There are specialist tools for that, but a credit card or your thumb works just fine. This way, you are in control and can remove potential air bubbles as they occur.

And now you can step back and admire your work! We hope you found these tips all about custom stickers useful and are ready to give them a try. Do you have more tips and tricks on applying laptop stickers? Then feel free to share them in the comments below.
